Trekking in Nepal

Below is a list of Treks in Nepal offered by TENZING ASIAN HOLIDAYS. The Treks are arrange by country and according to level of difficulty. Click on the name of each Trek for a complete description.

The Ex-Kingdom and Presently Republic of Nepal is well known as one of the best destinations in the world for enjoying the real beauty of nature through trekking. The trail into the interior parts of the country follows ancient foot-trails which meander through scenic river-banks, intricately terraced fields and the forested ridges connecting picturesque hamlets and mountain villages. Trekkers can walk along the rough but beautiful trails or virgin tracks in the lap of green and friendly looking hills. The rhododendron-filled, green, dark and deep forests with different seasonal flowers blossoming can catch anyone's eye as can the scattered residential cottages, domestic and forest animals, variety of birds, both Hindus and Buddhist temples, mountains, breath-taking landscape, and above all warm greeting from smiling local people. The highly developed and well-defined trails have been used for centuries. Trekking in Nepal is an all season activity. It is possible at any time of the year depending on where one wishes to go. However, the most popular season are spring (February-May ) and autumn (September-Nevember). Even during the monsoon season (June- ugust), you can trek in the rain- shadow areas north of the Himalaya like Mustang, Upper Manang and Dolpo.

Challenging

Comparatively harder treks. Walk up to 8 hours a day and reach altitudes over 5,000 m. With over 20 days of trek, some days are quite strenuous. Requires a high level of fitness.

Mountaineering

Similar to 'Challenging' but includes basic mountain climbing. Some days may have 10 hours of walking, crossing high passes that reach over 5,500 m. These trips require previous mountaineering experience. Requires high level of psychological and physical stamina.

Trekking Resources

Sherpa Field Crew

Our mountain guides and field staff are the Sherpas, who are the best in Nepal and known all over the world in this profession. Warm Himalayan hospitality to bring you complete satisfaction in every possible way is our tradition. Sherpa Sirdars (leaders), cooks, camp helpers, and kitchen helpers are professionally trained in, and are very conscientious about, preserving the Himalayan environment. All our field crews, including porters, are insured.

Innovative Itineraries

We develop unique and realistic trek itineraries based on our knowledge, heritage, and personal experience. It is our goal to bring you a wonderful experience and provide you with extraordinary memories of travelling to an exotic and daring destination.

Excellent Camping Equipment

Our equipment is the best quality available: two-person 'A' framed tent or dome tent, foam mattress, dining tents with camp chairs and tables, kit bags, and toilet tents. We do provide sleeping bags upon request. We also provide ice-axes and climbing rope for climbing adventures.

Pleasing Food

We serve menus based on fresh food to provide healthy, tasty, and substantial meals. You will eat three meals a day, plus snacks, including tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are a selection of different foods. Of course, we pay special attention to serving boiled and purified drinking water. Our cooks and the helpers take care of this for you. They are professionally trained and very conscious about trekkers' health.

Environmental Concern

We are dedicated and committed to protecting and preserving the Himalayan environment. Being so conscious of the issues, our field crew has been trained to use kerosene and gas for all cooking to avoid use of firewood. They also carry out non-biodegradable waste, burn litter, and keep the campsites very clean.

A Day on the Trail

Our mountain guides and field staff are the Sherpas, who are the best in Nepal and known all over the world in this profession. Professional Sherpa Sirdars (leaders) lead all our treks. They have the most reliable and efficient assistance from the crew members, who are responsible for handling all aspects of the trek.

Your trek day starts around 6 AM with a cup of tea or coffee and a bowl of warm water for washing. After packing your day pack, get ready for breakfast at about 7:30 or 8:00 AM. The days walking starts around 8:30 AM.

All camping equipment, food, and baggage is carried by porters.. All you need to carry in your day pack are a bottle of water, rain gear, camera, stick, and other small items you may need during the day. All trekkers walk at their own pace. Some of the Sherpas walk ahead of your group to show you the route, while others walk behind you to provide essential support and assistance.

Hot lunch is served around 12 noon.. You get a two-hour break so you can eat and do whatever else you wish. Maybe you are washing, taking pictures, reading, or writing, and so on. The day's journey ends after hiking three or four more hours. Then you relax with tea and biscuits [cookies] before dinner.

Your evening meal is served, around 6:30 PM, furnished with table and camp chairs and brightened with the light of a pressurized lantern or candle. After dinner, the cook will ask you about your food and the Sirdar will brief you about the following day's trip.

Some of your fondest memories will come from the evenings after dinner when our team will entertain you with their cultural dances and local melodies. This experience is a true pleasure and a delightful way to become acquainted with Nepal's ancient culture.
