Gosainkunda/Helambu
13 Day Trip
Easy Plus - 9 Day Trek
Max. Altitude: 4,620 m
Seasons: February - May, September - December
The valley of Langtang is protected as the Langtang
National Park. The most striking feature is the
contrasting climate, terrain, flora and fauna to be
found here within a close proximity. The trail could
begin in a tropical forest and by evening put you in the
middle of a freezing alpine landscape.
The sacred lake of Gosainkunda is one of the area's
chief attractions. Hindu pilgrims come to worship the
numerous shrines of Lord Shiva in the area. Great views
of Langtang Liurung (7,245 m), Ganesh Himal (7,146 m)
and Dorje Lakpa (6,990 m) peaks are the stellar reward
for trekkers.
The language, culture and dress of the Helambu Sherpas
are very different from the Solukhumbu Sherpas.
Accessibility has made Helambu a popular tourist
destination.
