Asian Holidays Island Peak Mountaineering Expedition in
Nepal
Island Peak (6,189 m), known as Imja Tse, was so named
by Shipton because it looks like "an island in a sea of
ice" in the high valleys of Khumbu region. This trek
involves one steep and exposed ice or snow climb of
about 100 m, but technically it's an easy climb.
This trek and the climbing of Island Peak is a classic,
where you'll see stunning mountain scenery. The trek
starts after a short flight to Lukla up the Namche
Bazaar, a place of unbelievably friendly Sherpas.
Experience a great sense of achievement upon your
successful ascent of the peak (depending upon the
weather and your physical condition).
